subject: Wedding Planning Without Stress [print this page]

Stress and weddings seem to go hand in handStress and weddings seem to go hand in hand. There are so many small details to look after, so many decisions to make. Everyone wants a say in how you do it. So how do you get through it all with stress? It's pretty simple. Just decide not to let yourself get stressed out.

A wedding is more than just the day. It's hard to enjoy something that has been a source or stress or frustration for close to a year. Even if everything else goes right, the bride might not be able to enjoy the process as much as she should. So here are a few thoughts on how to enjoy the process and not get overwhelmed or stressed out.

1.Stay Positive. Having a positive attitude will not only help you, but it will affect the people around you. Happiness is contagious. So is negativity. It's up to you how you approach the whole process. In the end, you will get married. You will look beautiful and people will be surrounding you with love and well wishes. How you get there is up to you. No matter what happens, know it's not the end of the world. Your family and friends will feed off your emotions; so if you want to be surrounded with happiness, then let it start with you.

2.Money. More fights happen over money than anything else. It's the source of most of the problems with weddings. One way to get over that is to figure out how much money you have to spend. Figure out your ideal budget, and then have a meeting with everyone who will be contributing. This may just be the groom or it may be the bride's parents or the groom's parents as well. Once you know how much money you have to spend, stay within that budget. Even if it's not as much as you had hoped for, create the most incredible wedding with what you have. You might need to get a little more creative than usual, but make that a fun challenge.

3.Remember the Love. You are getting married because you are in love. Keep that in mind when you ask your husband-to-be if he would prefer a brown and blue color scheme or a burnt orange, scarlet and fuchsia color scheme, and are given the response 'whatever makes you happy.' Is it that he doesn't care? He probably doesn't care what the colors are as long as you are happy and in the end. That's all that matters. Men don't' dream about the perfect wedding. They do dream about a life of loving you. So know he loves you and take it easy on him. If he wants you to be happy then make the decisions that will make you happy. Call a girlfriend and get her opinion and know at the end of the day he loves you and you love him. If you really need help, sit him down and let him know that this is important to you and odds are, he'll listen and help to the best of his ability.

4.Making Decisions. There are a thousands ways to plan a wedding. There are thousands of dresses, thousands of decorations and you get one choice. So don't get caught up in indecision. If you see something you like and it feels right, go for it. Once you make the decision focus on the next thing that needs to be done. If you spend all your time re-thinking decisions you've already made, you'll never get anywhere.

5.Coping With Family. Not everyone gets along with his or her family. Some people are resentful of a parent getting re-married or an aunt or uncle who has treated them unfairly. Weddings are not the time to rehash hard feelings. As the bride, you set the tone for the wedding. Stand above petty arguments and hurt feelings. Embrace everyone who has come because they are your family and this is a time for celebration, a time for love. Negative feelings will bring you down and this is your time to shine. Forgive the past, even if it is just for this day. Others will notice and the emotional rewards will be priceless.

Your wedding day will come and go whether you follow this advice or not. However, to get the most out of your experience and your special day, let yourself be happy, enjoy it, and forget about stress.
