subject: It Isn't That Expensive To Promote Your Business [print this page]

Everybody wakes up one day with the brilliant idea of leaving Corporate America and starting their own business. That may seem like a great idea until you check the cost of a start-up business. It takes money to promote your product, to get customers, and to make sure that people have some kind of an idea as to what you are trying to sell them. It is not always as easy as it sounds and certainly not an inexpensive undertaking, but it can be done and with a lot less dollars than you might think.

The first thing you want to do is celebrate a Grand Opening and make sure that everyone in the immediate community knows all about it. You have got to advertise it everywhere you can and it won't cost a lot of money. You also need to make sure you have some sort of promotional giveaway. It can go from anything from a pen with your logo on it to a free T-shirt with your logo. It provides free advertising and you will benefit greatly from it.

All you need to do when you are coming up with the idea of a promotional item is to get your logo on it. Make sure it is something people will use and that your logo is creative. If it is something that will turn the heads of potential customers, then you will have done your job the right way.

Coupons are another great way to entice customers to use your product. You can display them in newspapers and magazines and can even hire someone to put them on the windshields of cars. Anyplace people can find free or discount coupons is great and no one ever turns down a discount.

You can also hand out fliers and place them in the local newspaper or even place them n the windshields of cars that are at the local mall or grocery store. Make sure that your logo is prominently placed and that there are no spelling errors. It might take a few hours, but it is well worth the cost.
