Enjoy a classic holiday in tantalising Tenerife

Once-upon-a-time, a holiday simply meant a break from the humdrum of everyday routine, and a trip to Blackpool for a long weekend was about as exciting an adventure as most people would get to experience. But the whole notion of what a holiday means has changed significantly in recent years.

The world seems to have gotten smaller, with the cost of flights decreasing and accessibility to the farthest reaches of the Earth, to weird and exotic places, now available to everyone.

So what was once a simple fortnight of sun, sand and sea could instead be five days of trekking, five days on safari and several days simply travelling to get to these places. Indeed, some would argue that a two-week vacation would be needed just to recover from the demands of many modern adventures.

Of course, there's a lot to be said for a simple sunshine break, where days are spent lounging by a pool or by the sea, and where the most difficult decision is whether to go for dinner or settle down to enjoy another red wine cocktail.

The Canary Islands, for example, are a mere hop, skip and a jump from the UK and those seeking a last minute getaway to warmer climes could do a lot worse than head to Tenerife, which is the largest of the seven Canary Islands and is home to almost a million people.

Whilst days can be spent relaxing on the beach, the island really comes into its own at nighttime and prepare to be dazzled by the bright lights and party atmosphere of this fine island destination.

But if rocking nightclubs aren't your thing then fret not, you can just as easily settle in to a comfy chair at one of the many pavement cafes, or rock back on a rooftop hammock in Santa Cruz. However, if rocking nightclubs and discos are your thing, you really won't be disappointed Playa de Las Americas is home to countless venues that are sure to keep your adrenaline pumping long past the time you normally sit down for breakfast.

Whilst Tenerife offers holidaymakers a good old-fashioned classic holiday', with sun, sea and sangria aplenty, it's the Tenerife nightlife that really separates this fantastic little island out from its competitors. And whether you're in love with a Li-Lo or itching for some late night grooves, you'll be well catered for in tantalising Tenerife.
