Stretch Marks On Breasts During Pregnancy

Most women who get pregnant would develop stretch marks on the breasts aside from their abdominal area. This is because the breasts, next to the abdomen, are also rapidly increasing in size during pregnancy. The breasts are changing in size in preparation for lactation.

Stretch marks would initially appear as red or purple streaks on the different areas of the body especially where fat stores are more such as the arms, breasts, abdomen, hips, buttocks, and thighs. When the skin is subjected to an unusual and rapid amount of stretching and hormonal changes like in pregnancy, these stretch marks would often appear. The color of these marks can vary from one person to another depending on their skin tone. This is why some marks would appear red while some would appear purple or brown. The lines on the breasts can appear as streaks but often, they have a paler color.

A lot of people are wondering what could've caused these stretch marks and if there is a way to prevent such marks on the skin. Stretch Marks On Breasts During Pregnancy

Anatomically speaking, the skin is an organ. Actually, it is even considered as the largest organ of the body. It has many important functions in the body. The skin is a very flexible organ and it can expand when it is subjected to straining or stress. However, the skin also has its stretch limit or elasticity limit. If the skin is subjected rapid stretching, the outer portion of the skin may seem unaffected but the inner layers of the skin are already torn. The inner layer which is the dermis has already become thinner until the connective tissues on that skin layer are torn. The torn connective tissues on the inner layer of the skin are what you see as stretch marks on the outer portions of your skin. In pregnancy, these marks would usually appear during the last trimester of pregnancy. This is because the skin's elasticity is tested during the last three trimesters of pregnancy.

Although these skin pigmentations are already considered as a natural occurrence during pregnancy, a lot of women would still get upset and depressed upon seeing the awful looking stretch marks on their body. Hence, if you don't want these marks to become severe, then you should consider maintaining a healthy weight. Apparently, the more weight gain during pregnancy, the more you are prone to develop stretch marks on the breasts and different areas of your body.

Some say massaging your skin using essential oils can promote blood circulation to the areas that are prone to develop stretch marks. With adequate blood circulation, you will be able to nourish the skin from within so that it will be healthier and stronger. A strong and healthy skin will not be prone to breakage or any other skin problems. Therefore, when you get pregnant, you should not neglect your body. Eat the right type and amount of food so that you will be able to get the nutrients that your body needs. Stretch Marks On Breasts During Pregnancy
