subject: What Wedding Planners Do And The 3 Main Packages Provided By Them [print this page]

A wedding planner is a blessing for the bride and groom, someone who takes the burden off the couple's shoulders. She is conceived as a modern day Merlin who can create magic for the achievement of a flawless wedding. And this maybe so because wedding planners are trained persons with the right connections and creative knowledge. Many wedding planners consider planning for the big day a passion - rather than a job.

Any wedding planner can offer different types of packages. This depends upon the needs and the budget of the people concerned, particularly the bride and groom. The three main services of a planner, or packages as some may call it, are full service, partial service or day of planner packages.

Full Service Package

The job of the planner starts the moment her services is contracted and ends after the celebration. The planner is the representative of the family and from start, she will keep the communication lines open for all concerned parties. She even acts as mediator should there be differences in views.

Her responsibilities include the setting of the budget and staying within the budget. She will find the reception and ceremony location and she will book the vendors - photographers, videographers, florist, entertainers and bridal car. She will negotiate with all of these to get the minimum cost and also she will establish a timeline and ultimately sees to it that the timeline is followed. She will take charge of rehearsals and on the wedding day. Finally, she will follow up all other necessary jobs after the wedding.

Partial Service Package

The bride and groom will design their wedding and the planner will be a mere guide along the process, assisting the couple. The decisions will be made by the contracting parties and the planner only gives professional opinion based on her knowledge of event planning.

The responsibilities of a partial planner are to collect all information about the bride and groom, meet all concerned parties and help in the evaluation of the budget. She will contact the vendors and negotiate prices as well as establish the timeline. She will be present at the catering meeting, at the rehearsal and at the wedding and reception. She may attend to post-wedding needs.

Day Planner Service Package

The duties of a day planner are to see to it that the plans of the bride and groom run smoothly in accordance to expectations. She makes sure that the vendors are directed properly. The timeline is the most crucial of her tasks, has to monitor that the exact timing is executed. She will organize for the rehearsals. She will assign a staff to attend to the bride and groom on the day of the wedding, be at the wedding to check on the vendors and the timeline. She may also attend to post-wedding necessities.

The final choice is on the bride and groom. If they have time and specific plans, what they may need are only the part time and day planner. However, if there really is no time to get hands-on in preparing for the big event, then the full service planner is the most appropriate choice.
