subject: Entourage evolves into eTourage in Online Dating [print this page]

You've gone along with the gang at least once, haven't you? Entourage is the popular TV series that has aired on HBO since 2004. If you haven't seen the creative and entertaining show for yourself, surely you've heard something about it.

The theme for the series Entourage centers around the life of a young A-List movie star Vincent Chase, and his best buddies from Queens, New York. You go along with them as they experience the up and down, real and surreal adventures that only Hollywood can actually bring to life. The premise behind Entourage is said to be based on Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg's real-life journey as an up and coming Hollywood star, and always having his posse around.

Launched in July 2010, ETourage is a new online dating site launched that centers around the premise of setting up group dates. It is going after a niche that targets young people who would rather avoid the trials and tribulations of awkward one on one meetings and disappointing dates.

Stephen Bennett is a single guy in his 20's from the Washington, DC area. He claims he simply got so busy in his life with responsibilities from work and school, going to the gym and caring for his dog, that he never had much time to meet new people. So, he and his business partner Benjamin Gottlieb decided to create something to solve his own problem. "I naturally turn to the Internet to meet new people, but the options available online really aren't geared toward the younger crowd," said Bennett.

Bennett points out that 18-29-year olds account for roughly half of the single Americans. However, young people he says aren't using most of the existing online dating websites due to high costs and the negative stigma they have. In addition, most online dating sites promote everlasting love and marriage, but many young people today are really looking first for just a good time.

This online dating system works by creating an online profile, then recruiting your single friends to be in your eTourage. Other users can search the website for girls or guys who catch their interest. If they communicate and connect, they can ask each other out and simultaneously ask the members of their eTourages if they'd like to go on a group date.

It certainly sounds like a safer approach for young women. It also seems to have other advantages such as being more relaxed and fun being with a bunch of your good friends. Who knows? A person could wind up finding the love of life who is one of the friends of another eTourage.
