Administering test online (Computerized adaptive testing) has been a global Standard for some time, but the idea seems to be catching on like wildfire in Nigeria.

In Nigeria today, online test for prospective candidates is gradually becoming the norm. Recent vacancy calls by Diageo, Unilever and Oando has gone the way of online aptitude test. Organizations are now increasing relying on the Internet to test and screen candidates. Thus, a good performance in the online test becomes a criterion for inviting candidates for interviews.

Increasing use of the internet for several purposes has also increased its use as a tool for recruiting by organizations. Thus, pre employment testing in Nigeria is gradually becoming online.

ADVANTAGES OF ONLINE TEST

1. Convinience : Candidates can complete the test anytime and anywhere and at their convenience(within a given range of time .eg two weeks)

2. Both candidates and organizations benefits

3. Longrun Cost benefits to the organization.

4. Candidates stand a chance of being considered for other areas outside their core areas.

5. It Increases the chances of selecting the best candidates.

6. Result can be seen immediately after testing.

7. Safes time.

DISADVANTAGES OF ONLINE TEST

1. Cheating and collusion Since the environment is the candidates own, the possibility for cheating becomes higher.

2. Computer literacy required.

3. Tests are static.

A resent issue associated with online testing in Nigeria is that of PC's screen resolution size. Candidates who have or are about to take online test of some orgnisations have complaiened of messages asking them to adjust their system screen resolution size. This has created a serious bottle neck for propective candidates.

WHAT TO DO

1. Go online to practice similar test.

2. Practice your GMAT, hardware or software (CD). -Your GMAT is almost

the same as the one online. The only Difference is that, one is applied through the net.

3. If, possible, skip the questions you cannot answer and answer the

Simpler ones. This would give enough time to tackle the harder ones Later.

ADVICE

Just as submitting application/cv's online as replaced manual submission, so also would online pre-employment test replace the onsite testing in Nigeria. Thus, it is better to tune to current trend so as to continually be relevant
