subject: Hanover police arrest Scituate man for allegedly photographing women at mall [print this page] According to Hanover Police LtAccording to Hanover Police Lt. Robert Heywood, Pedro Fontes, 35, of Scituate, was arrested Sept. 2, and charged with indecent assault and battery(camera battery) on a person over 14, annoying and accosting a person, secret photo of a particularly nude person, and disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned at Hingham District Court on Sept. 3.
According to Heywood, at 4:13 p.m. that day, Hanover Mall officer Michael Jones was called to a store at the mall because a female shopper claimed a man, later determined to be Fontes, had been attempting to take pictures under her dress while she shopped.
Heywood declined to give the name of the store.
Heywood said the victim stated she had been walking through the store when she felt something rub up against her leg. When she looked down, the woman said she saw a black pen-like object with a gold ring and it was protruding through a small hole in a bag being carried by a man, Heywood said.
"She saw that and she stated that the subject turned quickly and fumbled with his bag and that's when she asked for the police to be called because she said he was taking pictures," said Heywood.
Heywood said when Jones arrived, he took the bag from Fontes, but found no camera. He then began to do a search of the area and soon found the camera the woman had described, according to Heywood.
"admitted having taken pictures of other females and we don't know where," said Heywood.
