subject: Preparing For Your Wedding Day Photo Shoot [print this page]

Every couple that gets married wants to be able to remember that beautiful day for the rest of their lives. The best way to do so is through photos taken of you both, your friends, and your family on the big day.

When you create your wedding budget, it is best to allot a fair deal of the money you spend to the photography. Though you do not need to go overboard in how much you pay for the pictures of your nuptials, it is essential that you find a seasoned professional photographer that has shot other events before and knows how to give you the best shots possible.

Before you commit to anyone, be sure to ask advice from friends who have been married before you. They may have good insights on who will or will not give you the pictures you crave.

You can also read online reviews of photographers in your area and look at their website portfolios to know exactly what yours will end up looking like. Once you have decided on the perfect one, be sure to meet with them beforehand to let them know exactly what your vision is for your wedding day memories and how much you are willing to spend.

Most offer packages and categorical systems where you can pick and choose what you want. Be sure to request a CD of all of the prints or make sure that it will be included in your package.

You may haggle a little with them to make sure that you get the correct price, but most professional's prices are pretty standard and concrete and may not change too much. If there is a photographer from another far away area or state that you really wish to use, call or email them about traveling fees and if they would be willing to come to you.

Many will also offer engagement pictures along with you nuptial shots. Finding someone that can offer you this will save you time, money, and stress in the long run.

Once you all have decided on your theme or style, you must design your shoot accordingly. There is no rule that says you must dress a certain way or that you cannot bring props or items with you to include in your engagement or wedding shoot.

You want the day to reflect you, your relationship, and your personal style, so have fun and plan something unique and individual. It is best to wear solid clothing in colors that complement one another, but do not match completely.

Ask your photographer how many outfits or shots you will be allowed, and decide from there what you should wear. If you have more than one option, try wearing at least one dressy or formal outfit; the man can wear slacks, a button-up shirt, and a tie, and the woman can wear a skirt or dress.

Though casual pictures are just fine to include in announcements and save-the-dates, try not to dress too sloppily. On the day of your wedding or shoot, make sure that you have a duffel bag packed with everything you need.

Women should have enough makeup on to cover up imperfections and have their features show more significantly in photos. However, do not wear too much, as you should look natural and glowing, not done up and cakey.

Men should have a haircut one to two weeks before the shots are taken, and should make sure to look clean cut and do their hair the day of. You should also be clean-shaven and have all of the clothing and suiting necessary for your nuptials and pictures.

Be sure to set aside enough time. Very often, rehearsals and receptions have to be put on hold because the couple is still in the process of having their photos taken.

You should also include your family and friends in your memories. Have candid shots of them taken, or arrange groups of families together.

One day you will be very grateful that you spent the time and portion of your budget on something that will help you remember one of the most important days of your life. The most important thing to do is find someone that you get along with and understands your vision; you will be able to look back on your wedding day with your future family and remember the start of a new beginning.
