subject: The Summer Grand Canyon Getaway by:Mike Finney [print this page] Summer is almost upon usSummer is almost upon us. It's the perfect time to plan a trip to the Grand Canyon. Photos just aren't the same as seeing it with your own two eyes. After all, it is one of the natural wonders of the world. If you choose to stay in the mountain village of Williams on historic Route 66, also known as the Gateway to the Grand Canyon, people can take the Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon. There are also comfortable hotel accommodations near the south rim of the Grand Canyon.
Whether you see it from the air or on foot, it is sure to be grand. The Grand Canyon is truly grand, and you can't see or do all there is to do in one day. If you want to see the whole thing with limited effort, a plane or helicopter tour might be the right choice for you. Plane and helicopter tours offer comfortable, breathtaking aerial views of the canyon. Camping at the top and doing a day hike is another option. At the top there is the Rim Trail that runs on the edge of the canyon offering spectacular views for people who don't want to hike down. Hikers can hike down one of the many trails down the canyon or backpack down if they're planning on camping at the bottom. An easier, but no less scary option is riding a mule down the trail with a guided tour. All of these things can be done from the main south rim of the Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon Sky Walk is the located at Grand Canyon West. It's a half circle glass path over hanging on the Grand Canyon so guests can see far beneath their feet, 4,000 feet down to the Colorado river.
