The ski season has finally arrived and for many of us it means packing the gear, escaping the city and spending quality time up on the mountain tops. Family skiing is going to be fun, fun, fun again this season! Resorts in Austria, France, Switzerland and Italy have fabulous Kids' Clubs and ski academies lined up for the little ones, including lots of extra activities - competitions, excursions, games and parties. Family ski package holidays are an excellent value to make the most of your trip and pre-arranging the ski lessons, lift passes, equipment hire and child care before you travel will take a lot of weight off your shoulders at the start of your holiday.
With such a vast selection of countries and ski resorts, which one should you go for? Generally, we would recommend the high altitude ones like Obergurgl or Val Thorens as there is always guaranteed snow whichever part of the ski season you choose to travel. Your ski abilities are also decisive factor when choosing your ski holiday resort as not all of them would have suitable runs to cater for all the levels. If you are on a budget, give countries like Bulgaria or Romania a try as they provide great facilities for your pound. And if you are part of a young group looking for superb aprs ski, then Andorra, Mayrhofen, Val D'Isere or Kitzbuhel should be your ideal scene.
Self-catering apartments are a good way of experiencing the hospitality and food in the local restaurants. Supermarkets are also usually easily accessible from your accommodation. However, the most practical and convenient way is half board in your chosen hotel or a fully catered chalet. Whether you are on holiday with children, group of friends or alone, there is a wide selection of chalets to satisfy every taste and budget.
