Ovulation And Getting Pregnant - Could Ovulation Problems Be The Reason Why You Cant Get Pregnant

Unlike men who start producing sperm during puberty, women are born with their complete set of egg cells. As women age and during every menstrual cycle, the number of egg cells diminishes from the millions at birth to only hundreds during the pre-menopausal stage. Another difference between men and women is that men can replenish their used-up sperm to reach the viable number every other day, while women can only have one viable egg cell in a month.

During ovulation, the ovary releases that one mature egg cell to the fallopian tube where it awaits that one sperm cell of the millions which can penetrate its lining of protective mucous. There is a direct relationship between ovulation and getting pregnant. Each month, each couple is given only one chance of conceiving, which is limited by ovulation, bringing it to a total of twelve per year. Needless to say, ovulation and getting pregnant go hand in hand.

For the woman to get pregnant, sexual intercourse must be done at least two days before ovulation as the sperm can only live for seventy hours or three days. To aid the couple in determining the day of ovulation, a prediction kit is best used; however, the couple may also compute it by subtracting fourteen days from the number of days in a womans menstrual cycle.

Furthermore, the environment during ovulation must also be right for pregnancy to occur. Hormones need to be produced in sufficient number through a healthy feedback system, or else implantation will not ensue. The above are only few of the reasons why ovulation and getting pregnant are directly proportional.
