Goa the smallest state of India in the western part of the country has Panjim as its capital, it is known for its striking beaches and different culture. Goa was formerly a Portuguese colony, currently a state in India's West region. Goa is spread in the area of around 3700 square kilometers and has approximately the human population around 1.4 million. The beautiful beaches of Goa attract the tourist from all the nook and corners of the world. Around two-and-half million people visit Goa ever year. Around 400,000 foreign tourists come to this city to spend the holiday. The Portuguese culture and structural design which is unique in itself attracts more and more number of the people.

Panaji the capital of Goa is also referred as Ponnje, Panjim, or Pangim, some also call it "India lite". Panaji is considered to be the most delightful of the other state capitals. Though there are certain changes in the capital of Goa but still it is the most wonderful place to be. The beaches of Goa lure the visitors to the great extent. Goas wide attraction makes it the most sought after holiday spot; it is certainly the public holiday capital of Southern part of Asia.

Goa is an attractive state with entirely different past. This place is a gateway for number of European tourists. Goa is a major attraction for the people who are into creativity. Many painters and writers make their habitat over here. Goa is seeing stable visit of the tourists since 1960s. The travelers who visit Goa have many places to explore. Ages old churches leave the tourists enthralled, there are also some temples in Goa. The pilgrims here visit both Hindu shrines and Catholic Churches. Many seminars and conferences are conducted in Goa from time to time. People also come and settle here from far flung places.

There are many hotels and resorts in Goa some of these hotels also have their personal beaches. Visitors can avail in these hotels the best of facilities and have the most comfortable and memorable stay. The unusual past of Goa kept it isolated from the rest of the country for around 450 years, during this time the state was under the Portuguese rule. Many get attracted towards Goa as there is still the glimpse of Portuguese culture into it. Some of the lodgings and hotels in Goa are still named after old-world Portuguese icons and names.
