subject: Benefits Of Wedding Insurance [print this page]

Wedding Insurance is sometimes thought of as insurance for worriers. Most people plan their wedding believing nothing can go wrong. Most of the time they are right, but when things go wrong, they can go very, very wrong. These are the times that wedding insurance comes in handy. For a few hundred dollars, wedding insurance takes the risk out of planning a wedding. Most brides think the horror stories can't happen to them, but there are a few things that are out of anyone's control and can ruin a wedding.

Health problems on the part of the bride or the groom can necessitate a rescheduling of a wedding. Many vendors will not refund deposits if that happens. Health issues could include a stroke, or an accident. Even though this isn't the fault of the wedding party, vendors are busy and they can't always accommodate problems like this.

Weather can be unpredictable. Weddings have been canceled because the bridal party wasn't able to reach the venue due to rain, snow or ice. Hurricanes are another consideration. For a few hundred dollars, you can be protected against any wedding nightmares.

Other scenarios to consider are venues that are under construction during your wedding. Some venues may refuse to refund deposits. Some vendors may go out of business between the time they are booked and the day of the wedding. You may never see a penny of what you gave them.

Another reason for insurance is to cover costs in case something at the venue is damaged by the wedding party. Most often, the bride and groom are held responsible. Damage could include a stain on a carpet, broken dishes, broken chairs and more. They might include a broken mirror or ruined linens. The cost may be small or it may be thousands of dollars.

One bride's dress didn't show up until three days before the wedding. Alterations were made hastily and the dress never fit properly. This caused undue stress on the bride. She was worried about losing her deposit on the dress and having to pay out of pocket for a new one. With wedding insurance, had the dress not shown up, she would have been entitled to pick out a new one.

Some people don't believe in insurance, but some people rest better at night knowing they have insurance, that if the unlikely happens, they won't have to worry. The cost of the insurance usually outweighs the stress of having something happen at the last minute.

Because thousands of dollars are on the line with a wedding, the cost of having insurance is often worth the security of knowing you are protected and your costs are covered if something out of your control occurs.
