subject: Make An Early Pregnancy Test More Accurate By Proper Timing [print this page] For certain couples trying to have a baby, those regular pregnancy tests can become more of a torture than being a relief. Though the pregnancy kits now available are improved versions, the risk is always there.
Metaphorically, the test should be taken after the girl has missed her first period. We know about the expected date of periods after monitoring the menstrual cycle for a few months. Once this date has passed and periods do not begin, test can be taken.
The normal symptoms include tiredness, nausea, headaches and tender breasts. These symptoms can be experienced before missing the periods but still waiting for this time is a wise option.
Couples do hurry to take the test but what is the point of taking a test at a time, when the risk of inaccurate results is the maximum? This is why it is worth the wait to just be patient.
The test basically works by sensing the presence of a certain hormone in the womb. This hormone is called HCG and the fetus releases it. However, the hormone is released only after the fetus has implanted in the lining of womb. Before that there is no presence of this hormone.
Hence, the test will appear to be valid once this hormone has been released. At times fertilization has occurred but fetus has not implanted yet, so taking test in this duration will certainly give a negative result.
Hence, waiting till implantation is must. This occurs from 6th to 12th day of ovulation. This makes the 7th days after ovulation the safest day to take the test. Afterward the concentration of HCG will double each day, making the results even better.
The tests do give precise results but only when the test is taken at a proper time. This is why patience is virtue in this case and it is suggested to wait out the necessary amount of time.
