Which Is Better, Wedding Insurance Or Magic Bubbles?

Your wedding is a unique event, and a truly special occasion. Why on earth would you need wedding insurance then? It is entirely right that any couple planning to get married should be able to enjoy the experience absolutely and completely. A wedding day is a magical time and at least for a few hours the happy couple should feel as though the entire world has held its breath for a short while.

But unfortunately this happy bubble of bliss can cause people to make errors of judgement, particularly during the planning and budgeting of the wedding. I will freely admit that wedding insurance is not the most magical or the most exciting aspect of planning a wedding day. But this does not in any way mean that it is of less importance. Because it is almost certainly one of the most important aspects of the day.

Unfortunately, no matter how magical, a wedding day isn't actually run on magic. A wedding day, almost any wedding day, requires money. Cold, hard cash. Yes, it isn't very pleasant to have to admit it is, but it is true nonetheless. Having accepted this fact, albeit briefly, couples will make the arrangements for their wedding before bouncing straight inside the bubble of happiness they have created.

But this bubble will not protect you. In fact if anything, bubbles have a distinct reputation for doing only one thing. Bursting. It is easy for couples holed up together inside their magic bubble to think that even if the worst does happen, and their wedding venue or reception venue goes bust, they'll be quickly refunded all of their money by a deeply apologetic manager, well before the big day, and that although this will require a bit of planning, they should still be able to go ahead with the wedding more or less as planned.

The reality outside the bubble is somewhat different. Because from the couple's point of view their wedding is the single most important event taking place at that venue. From the venue's point of view though, there may be 20, 30, 50 or a hundred other events all planned, paid for and booked.

If a venue goes bust, then you may well find that you are the bottom of the list with dozens or scores of other claimants needing a refund. In many cases there is simply no money left, and almost no one gets a refund. This is the reality outside of the magic bubble.

Unless you have a decent wedding insurance policy then only one thing can happen. The bubble will burst, and unless you have adequate reserve funds to the total of several thousand pounds sitting idly waiting for you to find something to spend them on, you may need to cancel or at least postpone your wedding.

A wedding insurance policy can't entirely protect you from bad news, unreliable suppliers or bankrupt businesses. But a wedding insurance policy can help to protect you against financial loss, and can help you to get back inside your magic bubble of happiness sooner rather than later.
