"Parabens are found in most cosmetic products - Modles with permission"

What are Parabens Used For?

Parabens are used to preseve products and keep them from spoiling. They are cheap and easy to work with and used widely in the personal care industry. It is estimated that 75 - 90 percent of cosmetic products contain parabens.

Where Are Parabens Found?

Most personal care products contain parabens. They are not always listed on the label though. Parabens are often used in fragrances and since manufacturers do not have to disclose the ingredients used in their fragrance, parabens will often be in a product but not listed on the label.

You will almost always find parabens in:

Hair Care Products

Cosmetics/Makeup (foundation, eye color, blush, lipstick, mascara, eye liner)

Body Lotion

Bubble Bath & Oils

Facial Moisturizers

Anti-Aging Creams

Baby Diaper Creams

Baby Lotion

What Products Don't Contain Parabens?

If the label doesn't say "paraben" or "fragrance", chances are pretty good it is paraben free. Many mineral wear makeups are now made paraben-free, though not all mineral makeups are without parabens.

Parabens go by many names including:

MethylParaben

EthylParaben

IsoPropylParaben

PropylParaben

ButylParaben

More research on parabens is being done everyday and there are steps consumers can take to ensure their products are paraben free, read how here.

Choosing safe product without parabens is not easy and if you are looking for:
