subject: India Sme Conclave Held At Iim Lucknow [print this page] Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML) recently conducted the India SME Conclave in association with the Indian Industries Association (IIA) and Ministry of MSMEs to discuss low-cost financing options for SMEs in India. Eminent speakers at the event also deliberated on the impact of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on the SME sector in India, emphasising on Indo-ASEAN FTA.
Discussions on affordable financing options being made available to SMEs and impact of FTA on the sector at the IIML platform were aimed at addressing the grave concerns of the SME sector and getting solutions from the polity, academicians and practitioners present at the session, said a senior IIML official.
Speakers at the conclave asked young entrepreneurs in India to think beyond their national boundaries and expand their reach by setting up manufacturing units and offering services outside the country. SMEs were also encouraged to focus on innovation and realise the benefits of having access to larger markets.
Improving the scale of operations and introducing innovative as well as diversified product portfolio will help SMEs in India to gain a greater global market share, said Sandeep Bansal, proprietor of Sanjeevan Electronics, a small-sized electronics goods store in Lucknow.
Speakers also asked the industry associations attending the conclave to apprise the government about their concerns with regard to the SME sector so as to avert any detrimental decision pertaining to the product lists involved in the FTAs.
