Things To Avoid When Trying To Get Pregnant - What You Should Do When You Want To Quickly Conceive A

In life, the id is always in constant battle with the superego. Simply put, what you want is commonly at the opposite end with what is good for you. This is especially true in pregnancy. Many of the practices you have been accustomed to and have integrated into your routine can actually limit your chances of getting pregnant in addition to other non-modifiable factors, such as age and genetic make-up.

Of course, you cant get rid of the latter; so for you to increase your chances of conceiving, you have to change your lifestyle to accommodate the pro-pregnancy practices. Below are things to avoid when trying to get pregnant:

1) Alcohol consumption. Moderate consumption of alcohol on a daily basis which is equal to sixty grams of absolute alcohol can mess up with the feedback system of your hormones. This, in turn, delays ovulation or causes ovulatory dysfunction and brings about problems with the luteal phase of your menstrual cycle. Limiting or totally eliminating your alcohol consumption is at the top of the list of things to avoid when trying to get pregnant.

2) Cigarette smoking. Smoking is not only detrimental to health but can lower fertility. It has been established that more than ten percent of the subfertility cases are due to the smoking of more than ten sticks of cigarettes per day. The harmful chemicals in one stick of cigarette can cause changes in the reproductive system, which limit the chances of conceiving.

3) Stress. Unlike the first two things to avoid when trying to get pregnant, stress is considered an inevitable aspect of life. What can be avoided is the reaction to stress. One can view any type of stressor as something which can be handled easily, thus avoiding the ill effects of stress on the body.
