subject: Dwight Howard - Best Big Man Dunker Ever? [print this page] The Orlando Magic basketball team may have lost their big man in Shaquille O'Neal nearly a decade ago, but when they pulled in number one draft pick Dwight Howard in 2004, the whole structure of the Orlando Magic, NBA and Slam Dunk Contest would never be the same.
Dwight Howard, at 6ft11in and only 24 years old, still has the potential to be one of the greatest big men the game has ever seen. If the Orlando Magic can pull a team together than can compete, Dwight Howard should end his career with a couple rings. The biggest obsticle in their way is just a few miles away from their home stadium in Orlando... which is the Miami Heat, now stacked with names like LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wayde.
Back to Dwight Howard. His dominance is like nothing we've seen before, or at least since Wilt Chamberlain's days. Dwight is continually leading the league in both rebounds and blocked shots, while continually staying at the top of the most double doubles in an NBA season.
So is Dwight Howard the best big man dunker ever? In my opinion, there is no doubt about it. The only reason why Dwight Howard hasn't won multiple Slam Dunk championships, is because everyone wants to see a little guy win the slam dunk contest, which was Nate Robinson, at only 5ft9in. Dwight even went above and beyond the average dunker, by bringing out a custom 12 foot backboard and rim, then easily dunking on it. Just try and find a handful of NBA players who can do that.
The bottom line is, Dwight Howard is a power house player and dunker like no other. Will he retire with more than just a Slam Dunk championship? Only time will tell.
