A Week End Looking At Art In Paris

I do like to travel as often as I canI do like to travel as often as I can. For long distance journeys I love the Far East. It does not take long to fly any where in the world, but for me to have a change of culture,is very therapeutic , I feel I can loose myself like reading a good book. Recently I decided to have a short term break, a quick holiday in Paris the culture capital of France. I love Paris in the sring the best, it is slightly warmer than England, and there is a different culture and language to appreciate.

The trains that link France not only to itself, but to the whole of Europe, seem very modern, well organized and they run on time. The best train network I have seen is the bullet train system in Japan. Not only is that very fast but the most punctual train service in the world. The Paris train service took me to within 100 meters of my hotel.

France, of course is renown for art, style and fashion. I was, very interested in modern french art , the current wave of artists seem to be pushing the limits of known and expected art, which really is what an artist should be prepared to do. I also had a great love of how the French lived centuries ago, and one of my places to visit would be a museum, to explore their former life styles.

The museums were very busy, with both people on holiday ,and also local people,Everyone was fascinated to see the history of the French upper classes and Royalty. Their furnishing were far more decorative than those of the British aristocrats. The grand eating tables base on farmhouse tables, were brightly colored and shaped with great carvings, one can see how the past develops into the present, as a modern French farmhouse table is well known for it's ornateness.

The pine wardrobes on show from the royal Palaces , were huge , one could hide several French mistresses in them and they most probably did too! In my pine wardrobe at home I could at best squeeze 2 mistresses in but here in Paris, they could manage maybe8.Ah well this was Paris.
