The Old Summer Palace was in fact a huge imperial garden which had been constructed over 150 years by 6 generations of Qing Emperors. Covering an area of over 350 ha with more than 160 scenic spots within the park was once well known for the arts of Chinese garden, cultural aesthetics and ancient Chinese architectural design. However, the garden was robbed and destroyed by Anglo-French Allied Force in year 1860.
