subject: HCG Drops Diet: Don't Let The Title Confuse You [print this page]

The HCG Drops Diet...many of us have already heard of it by this time. But do we have a crystal clear definition of what it is and what is required? Isn't it silly how calling something by a new title will alter what people think of it and how they perceive it? I suppose it's the same as the difference between naming someone Patsy and Patricia, Bartholomew or Bart.

The HCG drops diet is a title that is referring to a type of the HCG diet as first released by Dr. Simeons over 50 years ago. The diet was first designed to depend upon daily HCG injections. The term HCG drops diet refers to a type of this diet that does not require injections.

Instead of injections dieters are required to take oral HCG drops under their tongue three times per day throughout the diet. This is why some people call it the HCG drops diet. These people are attempting to clarify the difference between different HCG based weight loss programs. Some see the difference clearly as a result of the nickname: HCG Drops Diet.

But there are those who are confused by the nickname. The name actually leaves the full definition of the program open to interpretation. And many of us aren't good at this. We actually would do better in life if we carried a translator in our pockets to make clear the different implications of phrases and words and everyday speech. But this isn't to be...Some of us are left interpreting on our own and we come to the wrong conclusion. We think of the diet as ONLY needing the HCG drops in order to result in drastic weight loss. And that's the beginning of some real problems.

HCG diets in general are based upon several different elements. Each of the elements is required for success on the program. And the required elements are not limited to correct HCG administration (whether its homeopathic or injection based).

In addition to correct adherence to HCG administration guidelines dieters must follow: the VLCD (diet limiting them to 500 calories per day), the list of approved foods (it's very, very short), the daily weigh in requirements, the weight loss journaling, etc. Every element is there for a reason and cutting it out will negatively affect the potential weight loss through the program.

A lot of people will refer to the HCG Drops Diet as a miracle diet because they think all they need to do is wait for the drops to arrive in the mail and then take them and things will be wonderful. They'll lose a ton of weight and they won't need to do anything. And this is not right. This mindset leads to disappointment and depression. And depression leads to more weight gained. And that's certainly not the point!

So whenever you find yourself discussing the HCG Drops Diet or another new and amazing diet that offers wonderful results make sure that you get all the facts. When you hear that the average weight loss for the HCG drops diet is 1 to 2 pounds per day and you get all excited...don't jump the gun. Make sure you know how to get those results for yourself.
