A Perfect Circle is an American rock supergroup formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan.
With Howerdel working as the composer, and Keenan writing the lyrics, the group has remained consistent despite a myriad of band members. A Perfect Circle released their first album in 2000, and Mer de Noms became the highest debut ever for a rock band when it charted at number four on the Billboard 200. The released two subsequent albums -- Thirteenth Step and Emotive -- and then took a hiatus in 2004. For six years A Perfect Circle didn't tour or record any music, but in 2010 a reunion tour was announced.
The current line-up features Howerdel and Keenan, along with former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha; session drummer Josh Freese who worked with Nine Inch Nails, and bassist Matt McJunkins. The reunion will include full album shows as well as wine tasting and meet and greet events, and shows in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle and more are planned.
