subject: Employee English Training - A Wise Investment [print this page]

Communication is key in businessCommunication is key in business. The marketplace is now a global one. When company and client do not share the same language, doing business can be challenging. It is important for members of the company team at all levels to be proficient in the language that drives the majority of fields and industries. It is not just an advantage but a necessity to incorporate employee English training into standard operations. Effective communication can make the difference between a deal won and a deal lost. It can also be a way to prevent any unintended offensiveness to a client. It is more than a luxury in a business climate. It is expected.

After a corporation has made the decision to undergo employee English training they then must decide how they are going to accomplish their goals. Typically they want the system to be efficient and cost effective. This could mean bringing together an instructor and company personnel from various locations to one place for instruction. Although there are benefits to face to face instruction the feasibility of this in terms of budget is often problematic. The company could invest in video or audio tapes and make them available to their personnel in hopes they will be self motivated enough to accomplish the goal. The method of instruction that is growing in popularity is an online instructional provider.

Online employee English training allows for students and instructor to come together in cyberspace without the cost and logistics of actually having them in the same room. A good online training program uses audio and video features to teach. They use software applications such as Skype and WebEx to simulate a face to face environment. This allows for true interactivity between student and teacher. This interactivity is the defining factor in a successful program. Students need to converse with a native speaker from an English speaking country such as Canada or the United States. They need to have pronunciation corrected and vocabulary expanded through an actual conversational exchange.

The bottom line is what drives business. Employee English training will require some investment of time and resources. It can be a wise one if the proper steps are taken on the front end. Choosing a provider that will allow personnel to learn quickly and effectively is the most important element of a company language program. The return on the investment will be a place in the global market for a company that may once have stood on the sidelines.
