Daily Hot Deals Online In India

If theres one online business which has seen a huge surge in the last 3-4 years is the Daily Deals or Deal of the Day or Deals online business. One deal a day is a web-based business model in which a single type of product or service is offered for sale for a period of 24 hours or more in some cases. Certain sites sell items uniquely by this method. One of the premier partners in this space is www.aajkacatch.com it sells unique products at very competitive prices across India.

This is how this business model works: Every website ties up with retailers, and provide its product/services at a discounted rate. The discount can vary from 50-90%. For instance a session in some Spa that usually goes for Rs.2000 would cost around Rs.500 on these websites. The catch is that either theres a very limited number of deals available, or more likely, the service follows a group buying model in which a certain number of people need to opt in before any of them get it.

Thanks to the successful business model of GroupOn similar websites have started to take shape all across India. Some are specific to certain cities in a region, and then there are other bigger players like SnapDeal, AajKaCatch, SoSasta that provide deals across all popular cities in India. SoSasta was recently taken over by Groupon as its partner in the Indian sub-continent.

Its too early for us to judge whether or not this is a sustainable business model. It would be interesting to see how India as a market reacts to it in the coming months, as discounts have always excited the Indian consumer. The biggest target for this model is the urban 20 or 30 year olds with a spending power at their disposal. As of now, the consumer seems to be the biggest winner in this model as they can choose from a plethora of offers from Salons, Restaurants, Dancing schools etc. As for the businesses, its still not clear if this is sustainable for them to offer their services/products at such discounted rates. The success clearly would be defined by the offerings of the merchants, and also how innovatively they use the different digital/traditional marketing methods to market their business.
