Bahamas Tourist Office Offers All-expenses-paid Weddings For 16 Lucky Brides

The Bahamas Tourist Office has launched a fantastic competition with a grand prize of all-expenses-paid weddings for 16 lucky brides. The competition is part of a new marketing and publicity campaign for the Bahamas and the winners will receive luxury weddings abroad on the nations main 16 islands.

The tourist board is hoping that the competition will help raise awareness of some of the lesser-known Bahamian islands, such as the Berry Islands, Mayaguana, Acklins and Crooked Island.

Couples who prefer destination weddings to traditional ceremonies at home can visit bahamas16weddings.co.uk to enter the competition. They must choose one of the islands in the Bahamas and then submit a short video clip or photograph with a statement explaining why that island would be perfect for their weddings abroad.

The generous prize includes a designer dress, rings, wedding ceremony, flights and transfers, seven nights accommodation and meals, and six nights' accommodation and meals for two wedding guests for each winning couple.

The 16 Bahamas weddings will simultaneously take place on 16th May, 2012 at 4pm on each of the beautiful islands and will include ceremonies on the beach, in the sea, in an historic building, and with a traditional Caribbean Junkanoo-theme.

The competition winners will be decided by a panel of judges from the Bahamas Tourist Office, WeddingTV.com, Travel Trade Gazette, You and Your Wedding magazine, Kuoni and Goldsmiths Jewellers, and finalists will be notified by 5th December 2011.

The Deputy Director General of Tourism for the Islands of The Bahamas, Tommy Thompson, said: I am delighted to be able to show off the romance of my islands to so many couples looking for somewhere special to take their vows to spend the rest of their lives together. The Bahamas will give them a beautiful start to married life.

The Bahamas are a popular destination for Caribbean beach weddings with a choice of picturesque settings for romantic ceremonies including pristine white sand beaches, lush tropical gardens, or on a boat with a backdrop of the sparkling turquoise ocean.

The main islands in The Bahamas include Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island and Nassau but the other islands offer beautiful settings for couples getting married abroad. The archipelago is also a favourite spot for honeymoons with miles of unspoiled beaches, crystal clear waters thriving with colourful marine species and luxurious beachfront hotels and resorts.
