Struggling To Make Anything Online? Find Out Why

Anyone who is in affiliate promotion should know that keyword research is King and if you are going to get things right, this is one thing you had better get right first time. Doing your background work is only the beginning, but if you get it nailed, your venture will be so much easier. You could go out and buy the worlds best product online and if your research was flawed you'd get nowhere fast and wonder where they'd gone wrong.

Google Keyword tool is Your friend. I repeat, Google Keyword tool is your friend! When you initially begin investigating a completely unknown market don't just pick the set of results that the keyword tool gives you. If I was searching for " commission siphon X ". I'd search using the exact phrase, to stop me from getting weird and wonderful results. Google would show the monthly search volume for my keyword, as well as 800 similar keywords. Now the results google gives you are not that difficult to read - we get the search term people are using, the global monthly volume, any trend data and rough cost per click.

There might be a few keyword phrases there that have low competition and quite a lot of monthly searches. Next, we take those keyword phrases and search them all with the keyword tool to find out if we get any alternative results that have low competition and quite a lot of monthly searches. When I say a few, you want at least 1000, depending on the keyword and your niche. For example if your initial search term was "Blue Widgets" you wouldn't be interested in the search result "sell blue widgets" as these searchers are not buyers, they're sellers! You likely would want "lost blue widget", as these people had a blue widget and they like it at least enough that they're searching to tell others it's gone and maybe to get a brand new one.

So you have got your list of search terms, all are relevant, all have a good number of searches and fairly low competition. So how can we decide which ones are money spinners and which ones are duds? well we're pretty limited within the keywords tool, but if you're just starting out and don't want to cough up for expert software yet, it can give us a general idea. Your keywords taken the tool all had a cpc (cost per click) value after them. This is the rough amount of cash that advertisers on google adwords are willing to pay for a click on their advert from google. For you to make any kind of decent cash you reasonable want this amount to be a minimum of $0.25 but the higher the better.
