subject: The Fat Burning Furnace Program Uses Effective Weight Loss Practices [print this page]

The fat burning furnace program was designed by Rob Poulos, and sticks to tested dieting principles. By following Poulos's blend of nutrition and exercise tips, FBF adherents will supposedly lose significant amounts of weight in a brief period of time. While rapid weight loss may have potentially dangerous side effects, the principles of FBF are effective for losing weight. To get even the most unlikely exercisers up off of the couch, Poulos has included a guide for sedentary people.

FBF focuses its attention on increasing the resting metabolic rate of the body. One of the best ways to increase resting metabolism, according to Poulos, is to add on more muscle tissue. The FBF plan suggests between fifteen and twenty minutes of high-resistance circuit training, to be done between two and three days per week. By using as much resistance as the body can handle safely, Poulos speculates that a great amount of muscle tissue will be broken down. In the next seventy-two hours following this workout, the body will have to exert a great deal of energy to repair lost muscle tissue.

Added muscle mass will help the body to burn more calories. In fact, experts speculate that a pound of added muscle mass causes the body to burn up to fifty additional calories, each hour. This increased hourly burn translates to 1,200 extra calories burned daily, and 8,400 extra calories burned weekly. Muscle buildup, according to Poulos, increases the body's resting metabolism.

FBF also offers sound nutritional advice. The key to healthy eating, Poulos says, is to choose the right carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and fruits and vegetables. Good carbohydrates, according to Poulos, come from complex, unrefined whole grain sources. The right fats include nut butters, flax seeds and oil, avocados, extra virgin olive oil, and fish.

Poulos also has recommendations regarding other food groups. Poulos recommends consuming 0.04 grams of protein, for each pound of body weight. Also, for vegetables, Poulos recommends that dieters stick to broccoli, dark leafy greens, green beans, and asparagus. When eating fruit, dieters should stick to apples, berries, melons, and bananas.

Most experts recommend that dieters aim to lose one to two pounds each week. FBF claims to eliminate twenty-six pounds in seven weeks, which is a loss rate of almost four pounds per week. Losing weight so quickly may appeal to dieters, but most dieters who engage in rapid weight loss will gain the weight back quickly.

Losing weight rapidly could potentially produce side effects. Menstrual irregularities, fatigue, irritability, and headaches are among the mild side effects of rapid weight loss. Dieters also have the potential to suffer electrolyte imbalances, malnutrition, dehydration, and gallstones, on the more serious end of the spectrum. The longer people utilize a rapid weight loss diet, the more likely they are to experience side effects.

Before embracing all of the techniques in the fat burning furnace program, dieters should discuss the plan with their physician. Also, dieters should not neglect cardiovascular exercise, which benefits the body in many ways, in addition to promoting healthy weight. Poulos and his wife, however, lost forty pounds and sixty pounds respectively, by following the principles of FBF.
