subject: Getting Over Your Ex Girlfriend - Here's What Usually Does The Trick [print this page]

An experience that no one likes to deal with is trying to get over someone that you love but cannot be with. Getting dumped by a girlfriend and then trying to get over her is not an easy thing to do, but sometimes it is the only thing that you can do. Some relationships can be put back together and some cannot. When you have one that cannot be fixed, then really the only thing that you can do is to find a way to get over her.

Of course, that is easier said than done, this I know. I can still remember one woman that I dated when I was still in my teens that it probably took about 6 months to really be over her. That was not a good time in my life. Luckily, it won't have to last for that long for you. In fact, you can get over her a lot easier than you think you can. Right now that probably seems to be impossible because she is all that you have on your mind. In time, that will change.

Here's what usually works to get over an ex girlfriend:

1) Try to remember all of her bad qualities.

This is good because one of the things that will keep you stuck on her is to start remembering only the good times. When you only remember the good, you get that idealized vision of who they are and not the real picture. Remember what her bad qualities were and that she was not really perfect. It's okay to think that way and it does help.

2) Go out and enjoy the company of other women.

The more you socialize with women and allow yourself to have fun with them, the more you will see that your ex girlfriend is not the only one that you could ever have a good time with. If you are letting yourself stay at home and away from people, then it's easy to start thinking as if she was the only one that you could ever find happiness with.

3) Have some quality self improvement time.

Get a goal in mind that has nothing at all to do with a relationship and put a lot of your focus in that. Back when I was a teen and I was stuck on that one girl that dumped me, I got into sports more than ever. It was a great way to forget about anything that had to do with love or relationships and forget about her. Maybe you don't like sports. That's okay. There is always something that you can improve about your life that can take your mind off of love and relationships for a while.
