This year there has been a shift towards technology, although surprisingly the most popular toy harkens back to simpler board games. The list is as follows:

Digital cameras have been on the market for a fair while now, but have never really been open to use by children thanks to VTech, kids can now capture instant pictures of their friends, record videos and edit them on the spot. Its also markedly cheaper than a conventional digital camera, so theres less fear of expensive damage.

Since Tickle Me Elmo appeared on the scene, Elmo has made a real comeback since his Sesame Street days and the Lets Rock toy is no different. Working in a similar vein to Tickle Me, Elmo communicates with the child, entertains and helps with speech and language development.

A true boys toy if ever there was one the Nerf Vortex Nitron is a fully-automatic 20 disc blaster destined to destroy something in the house. Whilst far safer for kids than the violent shooter games on the market, parents should be sure that this is okay for their child thankfully the foam discs wont cause pain or discomfort; however it is the design itself, clearly based on a real model, that could raise some eyebrows.
7 Mini Moshling Treehouse
Like pokemon did back in the late 90s/early 2000s, Moshi Monsters has captured the attention and imaginations of many kids. It is an online game similar to tamagotchis, in that you can adopt and raise your own virtual pet, chat to other members and play games. This treehouse brings the monsters into the real world and also has a working basket lift to transport them to the treehouse.
6 Star Wars Ultimate FX Lightsaber
Despite it being over 30 years old, Star Wars still manages to enthral and entertain children even today, and these lightsabers light up, simulate the humming noise and are sure to bring about some epic (though completely safe battles) just make sure your child doesnt turn to the dark side!
