Inexpensive Breast Augmentation Is Possible

When it comes to plastic surgery, many women are interested, but few will follow through with their desire to have surgery because of the costs. While it is true that most plastic surgery procedures are indeed expensive, an inexpensive breast augmentation is possible. Although there are certain fees related to the surgery that are unavoidable, it is possible to find a surgeon that can perform the procedure safely and at a lower cost.

The breast augmentation procedure first gained exposure and popularity with the rich and famous, who see money as no object when it comes to their health and beauty. Although the cost of the surgery once reflected this wealthy clientele, the price did eventually drop with advances in surgical technology. For example, advancements in breast implants are one such factor that helped to drive the cost of the surgery down. Silicone implants are still the most popular option because they look and feel more natural. However, saline solution implants are less costly and do not require the extensive care and maintenance that can effect the overall cost of getting a breast augmentation. Furthermore, many patients are just as satisfied with the saline solution implants. Unlike silicone, which cannot be filled with solution after the implant has been inserted, the saline implants do not come pre-filled. This makes it much easier to fill the implant to a larger size without the need to make larger incisions, which are associated with attempting to insert an implant in a smaller breast cavity. Few potential patients realize that there is a large price difference between the use of silicone and saline implants. Making a compromise such as this can effect the overall cost without taking the risk of having the procedure performed by an inexperienced or unlicensed surgeon.

Much of the cost associated with a breast augmentation is related to the surgeon's fees. In other words, the surgeon will charge their patients based on the use of medical equipment and facilities, as well as an hourly fee the surgeon would typically charge for their services and expertise. Many times, this fee is based on the surgeon's experience. Therefore, a highly regarded surgeon with several surgeries per week is more likely to charge higher fees than a surgeon with little to no experience. However, it is still possible to get an inexpensive breast augmentation by doing a little research to find a surgeon that is both skilled and experienced, yet affordable.
