subject: Visiting Beauty [print this page]

Designated an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the South Hams of Devon is the ideal place for an Easter break. It is a rural, coastal area with a long and interesting history. It is not too far from the Dartmoor national Park and is very simply a nice place to relax while on holiday. There are many luxury hotels in Devon and other Dartmouth accommodation options for holiday makers to choose from.

The area is famous not only for its indescribably beautiful surroundings but also for its food and culture. Locals use tried and tested natural methods when producing food and being a coastal area the seafood is obviously fresh. Visitors to the area get to sample this freshly caught seafood, locally produced wines and apple juice. The area is very popular for its dairy products and creamy cheeses, ice creams and clotted creams all produced locally are just waiting to be tasted. Also available are succulent beef, lamb and pork along with venison, chicken and fish. There are many places around for food to be enjoyed ranging from hotels, to restaurants, to pubs and cafes. After sampling all the food, South Hams of Devon has the perfect landscape for walking. Its miles of coastline and breathtaking scenery are conducive for long outdoor walks. It is the best way to experience the location. There is something about gazing at the sea and feeling the breeze on ones face that instantly calms the soul. That is one of the many allures of enjoying a coastal holiday.

Not only walking but sailing, riding, golfing and of course sea bathing are just a few of the other pastimes on offer in the area. The small coves dotting the sandy beaches are suitable for spending the day lazing around on the beach, reading or sleeping or just soaking up the atmosphere. Being serenaded by the waves is the best way to relax. Another place worth visiting is the Dart Marinas Yacht Harbour which is located close to the Dartmouth town. See all the beautiful yachts and take in the views. Better still take a boating trip and enjoy a different perspective of the sights. The best thing about, South Hams of Devon, is that there is so much to do, that visitors can make each visit unique. They have so many different activities and attractions to choose from, that one visit to the area is never going to be enough.
