Finding Radiators Online At The Click Of A Mouse

We all tend to take radiators and central heating for granted in this day and age, but it wasn't that many years ago when they were something of a novelty, especially in the home. I remember as a child back in the late 1960s when mum and dad decided it was time to bite the bullet and get central heating installed in our little three-bedroom terraced house in Teddington, Middlesex.

Before then we all had to huddle around whatever heating source was available, either the coal fire in the living room, or the paraffin stove we put in the kitchen to take the winter chill off in the mornings while we convened breakfast.

In the early days the choices of radiators were quite limited, not at all like the fantastic range of modern designs that are available today. The first styles I really come into touch with as a child were quite massive and ugly, and were fitted into public buildings such as schools and libraries.

Ugly or not they certainly did the job, but when it started to become more common and affordable to have radiators fitted in the home, we then started to get a little more choice of design. Back in those days, if we could have fast forwarded to today and taken a sneak preview at the styles and designs that are on sale now, it probably would have blown our minds.

As well as panel and column radiators, you can get vertical styles, towel rails, and an amazing range of designer radiators in both horizontal and vertical styles. When you think back to how ungainly the first types were, the ultra-thin units that are available today are staggeringly chic and elegant in comparison.

You can have your whole house centrally heated using the great designs of radiators that are available today, and hardly be aware that they are there; they can be made to blend in so well with their surroundings.

When radiators first became a viable proposition to most home owners, the only place you would have been able to purchase them was from a plumber's shop on the High Street. But then the DIY revolution came along, and both radiators and associated fixtures and fittings could be bought in DIY supermarkets.

But of course things have moved on since then, and with the advent of the Internet, shopping for a central heating system has been made so much more easy and convenient.

Plumber's merchants' websites are now so well designed that the whole shopping experience for radiators is a joy. Their websites are invariably very well laid out, so tracking down the radiator of your choice is made simple. And if you need any help, all you have to do is either e-mail your enquiry in, or pick up the phone and talk to one of the helpful and knowledgeable sales assistants that are waiting there to assist.

All of the websites take debit and credit cards, so financing your order couldn't be easier using the secure ordering system that most good plumber's merchant's websites have. You can even get the product delivered direct to your door, all at the click of a mouse.
