The Gold Medal Polar Pete Vs. The Gold Medal Shav-a-doo Snow Cone Machine

Call them Snow Cones or Sno-Kones, no matter how you spell it or say it, these frosty treats are delicious favorites with kids and adults alike. In order to enjoy snow cones though, you've got to get your hands on a snow cone machine designed to create ice that is just the right consistency. There are quite a few snow cone machines on the market today, made by several different companies. We're about two compare two machines made by the same company: The Gold Medal Polar Pete, and the Gold Medal Shav-a-Doo Snow Cone Machine. Both are high quality snow cone machines, and both have great features you're sure to love. Let's take a look - making a decision could be tough!

Gold Medal Polar Pete

Featuring a fun, unique design that attracts kids and adults alike, the Gold Medal Polar Pete Sno-Kone machine is truly one of a kind. Shaped just like a happily grinning polar bear, who is, by the way, the perfect mascot for an arctic treat like the snow cone, this machine is manufactured of lightweight, scratch resistant polymer. It is equipped with a commercial grade motor for fast, trouble free operation, and at almost three feet high, this snow cone machine doesn't hide in the background. Very popular with concessions operators of all kinds, and great as an asset to any events rental company, the Polar Pete snow cone machine holds shaved ice in his tummy and paper cones in his left paw. Put ice into the handy concealed spout on his right paw, flip the switch, and enjoy ice-cold fun - that's all there is to it!

The Gold Medal Polar Pete Vs. The Gold Medal Shav-a-doo Snow Cone Machine

The Gold Medal Shav-a-Doo Snow Cone Machine is the company's most inexpensive ice shaver to receive a listing with Underwriter's Laboratory. A very nice choice for busy concessions, this Sno-Kone machine has a very small footprint; it is only 20 inches wide and 14 inches deep. Featuring a pretty, powder coated frosty blue colored cabinet and motor cover, it is a great entry-level snow cone machine with no frills. Its acrylic side panels, which are see-through, are tinted a very light blue for added effect, and it bears the Sno-Kone logo on its front. It includes a drain pan with tubing to keep messy drips away, plus it has a sturdy stainless steel spout for adding ice to be shaved.

As you can see, these two snow cone machines are as different as night and day. The Polar Pete snow cone machine is meant to be positioned front and center, as a big part of its function is to market snow cones to hot, thirsty customers. The Shav-a-Doo snow cone machine is meant to fit in with other concessions equipment, maybe sharing the spotlight with a hot dog machine, a popcorn popper, or a pretzel display. Both do a great job of shaving ice to the right consistency. As for price, the Polar Pete snow cone machine costs just about $100 more than the Shav-a-Doo does. If you're setting up a snow cone stand and you want to focus on turning a profit with snow cones as your main draw, then Polar Pete might be the better choice; if not, either machine will do the trick.
