Pop star Mariah Carey has married her husband for the fourth time at a ceremony at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.

The singer-songwriter and husband Nick Cannon have enjoyed four weddings abroad including their first ceremony at her private estate on Windermere Island in the Bahamas.

Mariah wore a long fishtail white dress with a black bow tied around the waist and actor-comedian Nick Cannon wore a white suit with a black tie.

Following the renewal ceremony at La Maison Blanche hotel, the 42-year-old singer wrote on Twitter: "Tonight was an incredible night; I can't express how amazing it was to renew our vows in Paris at the top of the Eiffel tower."

The couple met on the set of her music video for her song Bye Bye on the Caribbean island of Antigua. The couple celebrated their first destination wedding in the Bahamas in 2008 and they have two children together.

Celebrity destination weddings are on the rise and many actors, musicians and singers are opting to get married in tropical destinations.

Caribbean weddings are among the favourites with a wide choice of idyllic islands boasting white sand beaches, palm trees, turquoise ocean waters and a tropical climate. There are plenty of settings to choose from for romantic destination weddings, from soft sand beaches, and tropical gardens, to grand ballrooms, restaurant terraces, and luxury yachts and catamarans.

The trend is spreading across the world and more couples in the UK are getting married abroad.

Mintel Research in the UK revealed that the number of couples who have chosen weddings abroad since 2005 has increased by 27 per cent and more than 18 per cent of weddings for UK couples now take place overseas.

The average cost of a UK wedding is nearly 20,000, while the estimated cost of a wedding abroad is approximately a third of this at just 6585.

Italy, Cyprus, and Greece and are leading destinations for nuptials and Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston is rumoured to be getting married on the Greek Island of Crete this summer, while Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are reportedly tying the knot in the Bahamas in a couple of months.
