subject: Straighten Your Teeth Without The Annoyance Of Braces With Invisalign [print this page] Are you unhappy with the shape of your smile but don't want to deal with the hassle of wearing braces? Thanks to the Invisalign system of clear aligners, you can now fully straighten your teeth without ever having to wear metallic braces on your teeth. Since 1999, Invisalign has effectively straightened the teeth of millions of people who otherwise would have had to get braces. If you are thinking about getting orthodontic treatment to straighten your teeth, make sure to have a conversation with your Maple Grove dentist about Invisalign.
How Does Invisalign Work?
The first thing you need to do if you are considering straightening your teeth is to talk with your dentist to go over your options and make sure you are a candidate for Invisalign. If your teeth are severely misaligned, it is possible that you will have to get fitted for braces to effectively fix your teeth. Your dentist will also be able to go over costs with you (they are usually comparable to braces). After you and your dentist have decided that Invisalign is the best option for you, he or she will begin the process by taking impressions, X-rays and pictures of your teeth. From these, he or she will be able to create a digital 3-D image of your teeth. Using special software, he or she will then be able to map out how your teeth will move throughout your treatment. You will even be able to see how your teeth will look at the end of your treatment. From the software, your dentist will also be able to fashion your first set of aligners.
During your treatment, you will wear each set of aligners 20-22 hours per day for approximately two weeks at a time. As you switch from one set of aligners to the next, your teeth will slowly begin to move. About every six weeks, you will have an appointment with your dentist to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment. Once you have finished wearing the last of your aligners, your treatment will be complete and your treatment will be finished.
The Benefits Of Invisalign
The most obvious and important benefit that Invisalign offers is that the aligners are completely clear and no one will be able to know that your are wearing them when you are being treated. This solves the biggest problem that is associated with braces. In addition, Invisalign aligners are removable. This means that you are free to eat and drink what you want instead of being afraid that certain foods will get stuck in your braces. You can also brush and floss your teeth without restriction, making it easier to maintain your oral health while you are undergoing treatment.
