There are those times that we have to make decisions in our dating life. Where we would want our relationships to go and if we should continue or end it. That's a fork in the road we have to face and we have to make a decision on which road to take.

Finding a good, romantic partner is one of those important decision that you have to make. You want a long term relationship or a short fling? You have to make choices as well if you want to continue a relationship or not. If you made the right choice when it comes to your partners or not.

Being more aware of the decisions that you have to make makes you more prepared. Being responsible with your choices can help you make clear and unhurried decisions.

1. Do you see the person as being a potential match? The early phases of dating includes knowing more about the person and establishing rapport and trust. It's the time that you get yourself to be acquainted with them. This is the time you size up each other and know each other's qualities. The whole point of the first few dates is to asses if you still want to keep going. There are times where the answers just come to you immediately. Other times, you just need an answer from heaven to drop on you - and of course several dates in the long run. The answers can be positive: "Yes I want to go out with you again and get to know you more". It can be negative: "I think there's just no chemistry between us, we are too different and I think it's best that we just end it.".

2. Is it time to go exclusive? When you have been out on dates for several months and have gotten well together; there comes a time wherein you have to move and take things to the next level. Are you serious with each other? Is it the time to go more formal? Is is time to be dating each other exclusively? It's one of those decisions that can change the course of your relationship, when you get to commit to seeing just that person.

3. How far should you two go physically? Now that you both have committed to be exclusive, there are certain things that go with it. People have different standards when it comes to physical intimacy. It can range from being overly conservative to being too liberal. You have to consider yourselves individually and together as a couple when it comes to limits. For some, having too much too soon will just complicate things.

4. Are you compatible enough for the things that matter? Do you often fight and argue over the smallest things? Bicker on which dish is better? Quarrel on your views about politics? Is it easy or hard to reconcile your differences? Do you always find yourself in a bicker or face issues in which your opinions crash with each other? So you and your partner have different core values, so is it okay or not? Are you too different or similar? Differences in a couple can create a spark and attraction. The similarities are what makes you sustain a long and enduring relationship with each other.

When it comes to the important choices that you have to make in order to tread a long and lasting relationship; you have to consider a lot of things. All the choices that you make can be made rationally and with a focused and clear mindset. These decisions could affect your life greatly so you have to be careful.
