subject: Helicopter Tours Are Great Side Trips When You Vacation In Las Vegas [print this page]

Booking Grand Canyon helicopter tours from Las Vegas is a popular day trip for visitors. These helicopter tours offer the thrills Sin City is famous for and at the same time provide the chance to marvel at the majestic scenery of one of the top natural wonders of the world. Passengers can even land in the canyon when they book a combined ground tour, and see nature up close and in person.

The way it works is that the tour operator picks up passengers from their hotel and transports them to the airport in either a shuttle or a limo. Once safely seated inside the chopper, passengers can enjoy a narrated audio tour during the 45 minute air flight to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. These helicopter trips pass low over some amazing sites such as Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam, so taking photographs is definitely recommended.

Grand Canyon helicopter rides include a stop at the famous glass Skywalk that protrudes over open space and allows those brave enough to venture upon it to see down into the steep drop to the bottom of the canyon. But even that is not preparation enough for the experience to follow, which is hard to describe. Passengers are treated to a quick descent to the canyon bottom that seems like it is out of an action movie as the helicopter plummets 4000 feet in eight minutes.

Passengers are allowed to disembark at the bottom, and enjoy sweeping views of the legendary Colorado River. The guests can even opt to take an enjoyable pontoon ride up the river. After the boat ride, passengers get back on board the helicopter to enjoy another vertical ride up the Canyon's face back to the top.

Next, the guests may enjoy an interesting bus trip into Grand Canyon West, the lands owned by the Native American Hualapai Nation. The tribe requires an entry fee from visitors. However, the entrance fee and even the Skywalk Pass is included in the price of the helicopter tour. There are also shuttles available to Guano Point where guests can grab lunch and enjoy the expansive views.

Guests can then revisit the famous Skywalk attraction where they can walk out into space with nothing but clear glass between their feet and the canyon floor 4000 feet below. Other great views of the canyon can be seen from Eagle Point. Tour participants will also enjoy an educational visit to the Native American village.

After a fun filled day, it is time to return to Vegas. But there's still one final sight left to see on the way back to the airport landing. The view of the Vegas Strip from above is truly a site to remember with it massive resorts and sea of neon lights. When the tour guests are back on the ground, the tour operator takes care of the transportation back to their Las Vegas hotels.

The time needed to complete Grand Canyon helicopter rides varies according to the tour selected. At the very least, guests should expect to spend a half a day. These helicopter tours are exciting and may seem scary, but they are totally safe and utilize state of the art choppers for the utmost in security and enjoyment.
