Online Reputation Management - Clean Up A Bad Reputation

So youve done some research on Google and other sites and discovered that online your professional reputation is not quite what you had in mind. So how do you take back control of your online presence and get the information into the publics hands that YOU want them to see?

Well, the first step is to write some articles and publish them on your blog you do have a blog, right? If you dont have a blog, go to and set one up. If neither of those two choices wow you,. Start with one blog, then add more (after youve established the first) based around one idea or keyword that you want to control with your information.

Now that youve got your first blog set up, lets get back to those articles. Write about topics that youre passionate about, and always keep in mind the keywords involved in that initial-reputation search you conducted. Let people know how you feel about an issue involving your business. Thats how you get a following, by showing readers the real you. Be sure to be respectful of others opinions and try not to be too inflammatory (unless thats what youre aiming for.)

Think of blog posts as a column in your local newspaper. Try to keep each article or post around 500 words, and feel free to include video or audio in each one.

You want to stop the bleeding as soon as possible, and thats just what these articles will do. Pick the worst of the reviews or comments you found and write articles that will bump them off that first page of results. You dont want an unhappy client, or a crummy neighbor, or a disgruntled ex-employee to be in control of your online reputation.

Jammed with good ideas to improve businesses for all professionals.
