Pancreatic Cancer Symptoms:

Pancreatic cancer is perhaps one of the most unknown cancers of the world. It has become a major concern for doctors as well as the people suffering from it. There is probably something that we are missing collectively about this cancer. One reason can be the unawareness of pancreatic cancer symptoms or the causes of it.

Cancer is a term that most people are afraid to hear because it is not curable. However, there are many types of cancers that can be treated easily through modern chemotherapy. Most cancers can only be treated when they are diagnosed in the early stages. In later stages it becomes much more complicated to treat. The survival rate of the patient increases if the cancer is treated in the early stages. Pancreatic cancer, however, is usually diagnosed in the late stages. The reason for the late diagnosis is the inability to detect the symptoms. Symptoms usually occur when the tumor has spread to other parts of the body. Because of the late diagnosis the chances of survival are as low as five percent. That means about ninety-five percent of the patients lose their lives due to the excess growth of the tumor. It is best to be advised of pancreatic cancer symptoms to avoid a late diagnosis. Learning about the causes and prevention methods can also help.

Prevention & Causes:

To understand pancreatic cancer it is important to know the risk factors that are involved. There are many risk factors that are associated directly to this cancer. These factors increase the chances for the occurrence of pancreatic cancer to a greater extent. The most important out of all risk factors is smoking. It has been observed that people who smoke are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer.

Being overweight is another reason for this disease. One should try to avoid fatty foods in order to maintain a healthy weight. Weight should be maintained according to height and age, this can prevent cancer and other diseases.

Family history is also another big reason for pancreatic cancer. People with a family history of cancer are more likely to develop cancer than a normal individual.

Use of alcohol should also be controlled. According to most doctors, alcohol greatly enhances the possibility getting cancer.

Symptoms:

Pancreatic cancer symptoms are very vague in terms of their appearance. These symptoms depend on the severity of the tumor and how much it has spread. The symptoms of pancreatic cancer can vary from patient to patient. Due to the complexity of these symptoms, pancreatic cancer is difficult to be diagnosed in the early stages. Knowledge of the symptoms and causes can lead to an early diagnosis.
