subject: Wonderful Winter Weddings [print this page]

When your other half finally pops the question your mind will have a rush of excitement, and you will be imagining all of the things you will have to plan. First of all choosing a season to get married in is the first decision; this will help on the choice of a theme or direction, and be the beginning to your ideas. The winter wedding season is upon us and planning for this time can really set the scene for a beautiful and magical day.

Of course winter time in the UK has unpredictable weather, but then again it is all year round, so you just have to plan for the worst and hope for the best! If you love the winter scene then having a light snow fall would be perfect and help to create stunning photos. If you are choosing to have your wedding in November/December time with Christmas just around the corner, utilising the gorgeous decorations available will make creating a magical atmosphere a much easier job. With twinkling fairy lights and placing candy canes with guests names on the table as place cards, you can use these and come up with more great ideas to mix the two themes together.

Try to decorate the room in a subtle yet festive fashion if you are choosing the Christmas look. Your photos will be placed up in your home all year round, so you do not always want to see pictures with a Christmas tree and tinsel in the background. Add hints of sparkle and perhaps choose a colour scheme such as white, silver and purple which will look more winter themed than obviously festive.

Choosing a wedding dress and matching accessories is one of the most important tasks for a bride. Do not be put off by the thought of the cold weather, still opt for the dress that you have your heart set on. You can always put on a coat or faux fur shawl before walking into your venue or when outside for photos. Picking beautiful jewellery and a wedding tiara will look lovely in the winter, if the sun subtly peeps out the gleam will create a wonderful effect too.

With the run up to a wedding being so hectic and then the actual day so exciting, it can all zoom by so try to take in every moment. Even if the day will be a bit cold, it will still be memorable and a wonderful experience. You will then hopefully have a honeymoon abroad in the hot sun to look forward to, as your guests stay behind to enjoy the UK winter weather, not feeling jealous at all!
