subject: My Top Tips For Effective Weight Loss [print this page]

Its no secret that the vast majority of gym goers are on a mission to lose weight, even more so in the body conscious society of the modern age. However, because of the abundance of mis-leading, confusing and false information going around about weight loss, it doesnt surprise me that a large percentage of people give up or fail to achieve the level of weight loss they were aiming for. In this article I will dispel all the weight loss myths, explain why FAD diets dont work, how to create life long healthy eating habits and give you my best fat loss tips!.

Firstly, you must learn that you must to eat to lose weight. I appreciate that may seem a little bit strange but if you are on a very low calorie diet you are greatly reducing the bodys ability to burn fat properly. This is because eating infrequently or not enough tricks the body into thinking food is not readily available and as a result it will chose to store food as fat for energy. Instead, aim to eat 5-6 small meals spaced evenly throughout the day. Eating meals regularly like this helps to keep your metabolism elevated and blood sugar levels stable and these factors are a big influence in burning fat efficiently. By having a protein source with every meal you eat throughout the day also helps with burning fat more efficiently as it causes an increase in the amount of calories used during the digestive process and minimizes cravings between meals.

You should also realise that eating fat is not bad and should still be included in your diet plan. Obviously you should minimize your intake of saturated fat and trans fats but should increase your intake of healthy fats such as those in nuts, seeds, fish and olive oil as these are important not only for health but for losing weight too. Cutting down on your consumption of starchy carbohydrates such as rice and bread and replacing these with healthy fats as discussed above is a sensible choice and youll not only look better but feel better too. These healthy fats are also full of health boosting vitamins and are a source of energy making them a suitable replacement for starchy carbohydrates.

You must completely eliminate all processed foods and fizzy soda drinks if you are serious about reducing your weight. Processed foods such as ready microwave meals are usually incredibly high in salt, sugars and artificial additives that cause all sorts of problems within the body. Soda pops are also very high in sugar and therefore are full of calories. This can reduce the effect of your efforts to lose weight many people drink a big proportion of their daily calories without evening knowing it. I recommend you switch to diet soda or better still water, tea or coffee. Read the nutritional label on a can of soda and youll be shocked at the high amount of sugar and number of calories present!

By making these simple changes to your diet you may start to notice differences in your body in as little as a few weeks. You should have more energy and notice a reduced craving for foods high in sugar and/or fat. Additionally you may notice less bloating which is due to to a decreased intake of starchy carbohydrates. I dont normally recommend supplements as generally a balanced and varied diet is all you need to lose weight and stay healthy. However, occasionally I suggest a multi-vitamin, mainly if you dont eat many fruits and vegetables and also a fish oil supplement as these have lots of benefits to your health and are thought to increase weight loss.

I hope you have found this article informative and now realise theres not any quick fix for weight loss or secret FAD diet. Making simple and life-long nutritional and lifestyle changes as discussed above is by far the best and most efficient way to lose weight and feel more confident about your body.
