Mobile Movie Trend Survey By Iab And Inmobi

A Mobile is a like a world in your hand. It is no longer considered to be a device which is used only for making calls, sending text messages, playing games & listening to music. It is more like a tool that connects you to the world of information which affects directly to your decision-making. When it comes to making decisions about movies, mobile has become an affective tool that lets you get information and even buy movie tickets for the latest movies playing in theatres.

Recently a survey conducted by Interactive Advertising Bureau and mobile technology company InMobi that focused on how moviegoers research movies on their mobile devices. They took a sample of 373 people who had Androids, Apple Smartphones & other mobile devices and investigated the way in which users involved their mobile devices when choosing whether or not to watch a movie, and if so, making a decision on which movie to watch.

The survey results were quite interesting as they reveal a growing trend of mobile users who use their mobile phones to research a movie before going to the theatre.

The survey results show that more men than women use their devices for watching movies trailers, choosing a film to watch and buying tickets.

The results are as given below:

40 percent of male respondents were more likely to view trailers on their devices versus 27 percent of female respondents.

71 percent of men said they used their phone to help them choose a film, versus 69 percent of women.

38 percent of men said they checked social media to see what people thought about a film, versus 33 percent of women.

31 percent of survey respondents said they saw a trailer on their mobile phone in the past six months.

24 percent of regular moviegoers said they purchased tickets via their mobile devices in the past six months, compared with 7 percent of infrequent moviegoers.

Of respondents who go to the movies at least once a month (31 percent), one in five said they always use their phones to choose a film versus less frequent moviegoers (48 percent) and those who don't go to the movies at all (21 percent).

The study clearly reveals the growing trend of mobile movies, and this offers a great opportunity to movie studios to reach out to a large number of male mobile users to promote their movies or dramas. There is also an increased expected growth for mobiles to become a transactional tool for movie lovers as currently a small number of people buy tickets from their mobiles which has seen an upward trend.
