subject: Planning A Fall Wedding? Clever, Seasonal Wedding Themes [print this page]

Even though summer seems to be the most popular wedding season, many couples are steering clear of hot, humid temperatures when they exchange their vows. June still remains the most in-demand wedding month, but October is a close second.

In addition to enjoying cooler fall temperatures, fall weddings bring the opportunity to change up traditional wedding themes to incorporate colors of the season like deep orange, dark green, and vibrant yellow.

If you're planning an autumnal wedding, consider these interesting wedding themes as inspiration for your big day:

Outdoor Foliage: One trademark of a fall wedding is saying "I do" under a tree after the leaves have changed to provide a backdrop of rich colors like red, yellow, and orange. If weather permits, consider holding your fall wedding outdoors. Make guests comfortable by setting up several outdoor fire pits strategically and provide a reception with hot soup, hot entres, and hot beverages like coffee, hot chocolate, and cider.

Natural Decor: To find inspiration for your fall wedding decor, just take a look outside. You can gather any number of items that you find and use them as wedding decorations, like cedar branches tied to wedding programs and bowls of acorns as centerpieces for each table. You can also use faux leaves to decorate each bouquet and tabletop for an authentic touch of fall throughout the wedding.

Pumpkin-Inspired Menus: If you want to celebrate the great pumpkin in your wedding theme, you can use deep orange and brown as your wedding colors and serve a pumpkin-inspired menu that is perfectly representative of fall. Start with a warm pumpkin and squash soup, serve a salad garnished with toasted pumpkin seeds, offer grilled pork with a pumpkin glaze, and wrap it up with a slice of delicious pumpkin spice wedding cake.

Chocolate Roses: For a true touch of fall, consider using chocolate as a primary wedding color. You can order your bridesmaids dresses in a deep, rich shade of chocolate and have each member of the wedding party carry a bouquet of up-and-coming chocolate roses. To carry on with the theme, use chocolate roses to decorate the wedding reception and serve guests a chocolate fountain for dessert!

Candy Apples: If you'd like to plan a non-traditional fall wedding, consider serving guests candy apples instead of a wedding cake. This is an affordable and interesting option that can substitute for a traditional cake; this is an especially clever idea if your wedding is on or around Halloween. To tie the theme together, use bright red apples floating in water in a glass bowl to decorate each table as a centerpiece.

When it comes to fall, tis the season for an unforgettable autumnal wedding.

Contrary to popular belief, a fall wedding doesn't have to be heavy and stuffy to fit in with the season. Bridesmaids can still wear light, flowing dresses in any desired color, and groomsmen aren't obligated to go formal. For a casual fall wedding, consider pale yellow, tea-length bridesmaids dresses paired with lightweight khaki suits for the groomsmen.
