There is a pre-determined structured amount of betting in limit holdem. Pre-flop and on the flop, all bets and raises are of the same amount as the big blind. On the turn and the river, the size of all bets and raises doubles. In Limit Hold'em, up to four bets are allowed per player during each betting round. This includes a (1) bet, (2) raise, (3) re-raise, and (4) cap (final raise).

Texas Holdem is a deceptively simple game to learn but a harder game to master. Each player is dealt two private cards and then five community cards are turned up on the board. With the five card hand you make out the best using any combination of the seven cards. For this example we will use a low limit structure of $2/4. There are four betting rounds and the first two have a limit of $2 and the last two rounds have a limit of $4. You must bet or raise only the amount of the limit for that round.

It is best play Low Limit Texas Holdem as you learn the game. Some of the low limits games you will find in the card room have a betting structure of $2/4, $3/6 $4/8. If you feel that you are more equipped after you gain experience you can move up the higher limits or No Limit if you desire. But it is best to learn the basics first before going into more complicated games.

However, the most common mistake limit players make is continuing on the flop and turn with bad draws. You can approach this by looking at the pot odds for a draw compared to the odds of making that draw with one card.
