subject: Buying The Best Laptop For Gaming [print this page]

Theres no doubt that the digital age is truly upon us, and as we move forward into the 21st century the extreme rate of technological advances will undoubtedly only prove to go further. Although many of us take for granted the inherent necessity of computers in our daily lives, from social communication to improving economic productivity, it has not always been so obvious. In 1943 Thomas J Watson predicted that there would only ever be a world market for as many as 5 computers, though of course this prediction was based on how expensive and how big the machines were at the time.

Computers, unlike antiques, tend to decrease in value, as is the case with most technology. Unfortunately, they also tend to slow down and gradually become less and less useful, this means that many of us find ourselves having to replace old computers every few years or so. However, with so many different computers out there making a decision can be overwhelming, you have to take into consideration manufacturers, models, formats, and of course the specifications.

As computers continually improve it is becoming more common for people to use laptops for gaming purposes. Despite the fact that there are a number of different consoles that have been designed for the soul purpose of gaming, there are still a number of games that are only available for a regular computer. If youre looking for a laptop for gaming then there are certain features and specifications that you can look for.

A gaming laptop will have to be quite powerful as the specifications for many of the newer games have high requirements, so you will need to find something with a decent processor. Similarly many games will require a high standard graphics and sound card to support them, so these should be taken into consideration when browsing the different specs. One factor that many people tend to overlook (no pun intended) is the screen size, though many people buy laptops because they are portable it is still important to consider the screen size in relation to what your requirements are, even if a larger screen does compromise mobility. One alternative is to have an external monitor, this way you can still have a portable machine but reap the benefits of a bigger screen whilst in the house. Depending on what games youre looking at in particular it is likely that you will require at least 4 GB of RAM - Random Access Memory - to make sure that the laptop continues to run smoothly.
