subject: How To Choose Wedding Locations For The Big Day [print this page]

Scouting for wedding locations can be fun but at the same time tiresome if the couple has little idea what to look for in one. Most of the time, something just inspires the couple to wed in a certain place and they work around this aspect. For the most part, some people might have difficulty choosing the venue of their ceremony and reception because they are turned off certain points that come out only after they have seen or visited the place.

Ease of Access

One of the things that the couple needs to consider when it comes to wedding locations is the ease that their guests can access the venue. At this point accessibility comes in different degrees. One form of access that should be considered is the finer point of ramps and stairs that elderly guests might require. More adventurous couples often have their ceremonies in places that are just not feasible for elderly guests such as bungee venues and underwater areas. If the couple wants to invite elderly guests and young children to their adventure, they might need to specify the difficulty that these ages might have going to the ceremony venue and request that they follow to the reception only afterwards. Although the reception might still be in the same location, there is a big possibility that the reception will be at a more comfortable marquee or inn close to the actual ceremony site. Another aspect of accessibility is how far the venue is to the most number of guests. Out of town venues should include options for guests to stay the night in order for them to be more comfortable and at ease while changing into their finery. Out of town wedding locations are usually connected to quaint inns and holiday resorts that can cater to these kinds of events. The couple needs to consider the capacity of their guests to stay overnight during the event or drive down to it.

It is not just the guests that the couple needs to consider when it comes to accessibility. Suppliers for the ceremony will need to be made aware of the capacity of the venue when it comes to housing the various kinds of foods that are usually served during receptions. Some of these might need to be kept chilled or frozen until they are served while others need to be kept warm. The out of town location should be able to supply refrigerators and ovens that have the capacity for the number of guests expected at the ceremony and reception. For out of the way wedding locations, electricity should be available for the caterer to, at least bring, his or her own chillers or ovens. Florists might also need to keep their flowers chilled to prevent them from wilting. Couples who wish to be wed in out of town venues might want to opt for local florists to cut down on the cost of shipping the flowers from the city to wherever the area is.
