subject: A Winter Wonderland Wedding [print this page]

Christmas is fast approaching and it is a popular holiday for people to tie the knot in. Having a winter wonderland wedding is the dream of many brides to be and is a season filled with fantastic ideas to incorporate into the big day. Of course the weather is more unpredictable but the event will still be fantastic if you plan ahead for all situations.

The festive season is filled with love and joy and can be one of the best times of the year to bring everybody together for a big wedding. Using the theme of snow, fairy lights and more can work fantastically if carried out well. Opting for winter wonderland over Christmas themed is a great way to separate the two occasions. Try to use the winter season as opposed to the big event on the 25th December to keep it classy. If you are a fan of white wedding dresses then choosing the colour white as a main part of your theme will look beautiful and create the perfect setting.

Of course when it comes to planning for the weather it can be very difficult. In the UK rain, snow, sleet and more is all expected at this time of year. The best thing to do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best! Possibly purchase some warm shrugs and even some blankets for in-between wedding photos, the bridal party will definitely appreciate them when stood around waiting for the next shot! Also think about the bottom of the brides dress, if it has rained heavily you want to make sure there is something down on the floor or that the dress hovers off the ground so it does not soak the water up. Umbrellas and hot drinks all round will be necessary, hopefully when it comes to the day it will just be a chilly, frosty atmosphere with a glimmer of the sun.

When it comes to decorating the venue for the wedding reception using fabric and lights to really bring the atmosphere alive will work wonderfully. Purchase fabric and drape it from the ceiling of the room, you could then use white fairy lights to wrap around any banisters or beams. Adding a few lights into your flower decorations for the tables will look magical once it turns to the evening. With the dark nights drawing in quickly having the extra lighting will be great and create a bright yet cosy mood in the room. You should team the white colour with a deep purple or something similar for a great contrast, it will add a beautiful pop of colour to the room. Above all enjoy the planning and the day itself as it is a once in a lifetime experience!
