subject: Join The Battle Against Prostate Cancer By Donating A Vehicle [print this page]

Prostate cancer is said to be the silent killer for men in their sixties and above. It is the second most common form of cancer affecting American men, with the National Cancer Institute estimating that one in six men will develop the disease in their lifetime. This figure is to say the least very alarming yet prostate cancer does not receive as much publicity as other illnesses. Despite killing nearly thirty thousand people annually, a lot of men havent recognized it as a dangerous killer because it doesn't rear its insidious head until its too late. Cancer of the prostate develops very slowly and is rarely detected until painful symptoms like painful sensations during urination begin showing up. By this time its much harder to treat the disease because it has already spread to other organs in the body.

Early detection of the disease through regular screening gives a patient a greater chance of recovering from it. If the disease is caught early then doctors can work out a more effective treatment plan for the patient thus giving him a much better prognosis. The Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) and Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) are the two most widely used screening tests for prostate cancer. A patient who shows anomalies with either test is put through more intensive tests to ascertain whether he has began developing the cancer in which case doctors will devise early intervention strategies for the patient. Unfortunately, many men out there are not aware that these tests are important or that they even exist and so they miss out on the benefits of early detection of the disease.

For these tests to make a difference in the lives of more men, it is imperative that more and more people are educated about them. This is where your help is needed because such awareness programs are very costly to run. There are numerous charities in the US that are involved in spreading awareness about prostate cancer and nearly all of them rely on donations from kind well-wishers. Most donors give cash but charities are increasingly warming up to alternative donations. You can for example donate vehicle or just about any other items you dont need to a charity. The charity will sell these and use the proceeds to fund its mission.

Prostate Cancer Awareness Project is one example of an automobile donation charity that enables you to join the fight against prostate cancer by donate vehicle. This automobile donation charity sells off vehicles donated by well-wishers and uses the money to fund its awareness campaigns. Well-wishers are encouraged to donate vehicles that they don't use any more including old cars, motorcycles, RVs, motor homes, and the likes.

Instead of keeping old vehicles you no longer need, why not give them to an automobile donation charity that is spreading awareness of prostate cancer to thousands of men? When you donate vehicles to an automobile donation charity you not only free yourself of some unwanted property, you also become eligible for some tax write offs, and ultimately you help to save the precious lives of many men who would have suffered from the silent yet deadly killer that is prostate cancer.
